We have formed this group because enough is enough.
Sherburn in Elmet has already suffered from hundreds of new homes and is now facing proposals for yet more large-scale development. This level of growth is no longer acceptable and is placing unsustainable pressure on our village.
Sherburn Parish Council has raised serious concerns in an open letter to the local authority, yet these warnings have been ignored.
Our roads are gridlocked and increasingly dangerous.
Schools are full, forcing families to travel outside the village each day.
GP and health services are overstretched with unacceptable waiting times.
Sherburn in Elmet cannot support more housing without significant and guaranteed investment in roads, schools, and public services.
Developers are being given free rein to build in locations of their choosing.
Our aim is to make sure residents' voices are heard and to firmly oppose further development in Sherburn in Elmet.
We will do this by uniting our community, engaging our MPs / councillors and bringing local and national media attention to what is happening here.
